Mapping the Undercliffs Exhibition
- 23rd July 2024 to 13th September 2024
- Lyme Regis Museum
- Free with museum entry (£7.95 for adult)
In 2023 and 2024, I mapped the Undercliffs National Nature Reserve in the strip map style of John Ogliby’s Britannia Road Atlas (1675). The three resulting maps will be exhibited in the Rotunda Gallery in Lyme Regis Museum from 23rd July to 13th September. Museum entry is needed to access the exhibition.

Bird Sketching Workshop

Learn to draw birds in this fun interactive workshop. Using photos, practice getting the “jist” of a bird in as few lines as possible – perfect for improving your sketching skills. Beginner friendly and indoor class.

Nature journaling wildflower walk
- Saturday 24th August, 11-12:30
- Abbey Farm, Abbotsbury, Dorset
- 16 including sketchbook
A 1.5-hour guided wildflower walk around Abbotsbury. Learn how to make notes on wildflowers in the field to help you identify what they are! An initial demonstration and discussion will be provided, then we head out for a walk to see what we find. Sketchbook and pencil provided, suitable for any experience level. Families welcome, no unaccompanied children.

Nature Journaling in the Undercliffs

Join Alex on Saturday 7th September on a creative exploration of the natural landscape of Pinhay in Lyme Regis. In this one-day introduction to nature journaling, Alex will show you some fundamentals of nature journaling with fun prompts and exercises that are suitable for any skill level. Good mobility needed for the morning walk on Pinhay Warren. Art materials will be provided and as part of the workshop you will receive a full-colour illustrated ‘How to Start a Nature Journal’ guide, a sketchbook and a pencil to keep.

Devon Open Studios: Introduction to Nature Journaling

In this one-day introduction to nature journaling, Alex will show you some fundamentals of nature journaling with fun prompts and exercises that are suitable for level. We will begin with a simple sketchbook and pencil with a full morning of sketching by the riverside in Colyton (weather dependent). After lunch, we will return to the studio to work the morning’s observations into a page (or more!) of paintings and writing. Materials included, bring a packed lunch!
